Here is the second layer. See how the glazing is bringing this painting to life? There is a lot more transparency to this painting because of the glazing.  I am thinking of adding some more elements to the painting but right now I will live with it for a day or so and see how I feel about that idea.

Under Painting Workshop

This is a first layer of an underpainting. I started to apply a second coat while the painting was still wet, by the books. see how rich and warm it looks so far. now I will let it dry and I will apply more paint and start the finishing touches. After about 3 layers it should be done. wonderful technique.

This is a study I did about the fuel tanker "Renda" and the Icebreaker "Healy" journey to Nome Alaska.

At times the ice was the size of cars. The story has a happy ending. Time to float this one to the wall at my show at "Madd Matters Alaska Gallery" in Palmer, Alaska. You just have to come it will be so much fun to see you.

I painted this Sand Hill Crane on a misty Alaska day. Her name is Sandy and she lives at the Alaska Wild Bird Rehab Center. Isn't she a beauty.
