I will be teaching the Hudson River School technique of painting at my upcoming Seminar at Jane Barrientos Studio and Gallery  in West Springfield, Ma. This technique can add another dimension to your own style of painting. I will show how these techniques can fix problems in existing paintings. The Hudson River Style adds depth, mood and drama. a question

we take work shops to learn new approaches to painting. so many of the art looks just like the instructors. A lot of these people win prizes but yet they are not unique. They just paint like the unique painter they learned there craft from. Now should these painters - that are outstanding like there instructor- do you think they should win prizes or should we be giving prizes to artist that learned to be unique while using some of these approaches?

 This is one of my most recent work I have done. I was painting my BFF Judy Vars and she was painting at the time and in deep thought. I love how it came out. I want to do more portraits in the future. Look for it at the Alaska Sate Fair.

 This a young saguaro cactus on my beautiful property in AZ. the name of this cactus is Little Jake. I'm sure I'll be painting this as it grows.

I'm looking forward to seeing all my artist friends in Tucson and Marana. It's been a long winter so far and looking to paint some nice warm hues. It is like candy for my eyes. I painted this scene of Sodona to warm up my eyes.

This painting just exploded off the easel today. In the corporate collection of Advanced Blasting Services, LLC

This composition brings the viewer onto the work site. giving us a front row view of raw work in motion. The explosion of a old train tunnel in Alaska. you can see the earth is heaving from the blast and the smoke is in progressive heights from the timing of each sets of charges. The use of orange and blues make the explosion pop off the painting. the drilling lines on the cliff are straight, accurate and clean. This painting is a testament to the engineering and hard work involved in carving out a new age of rail service.

The sunset capture's the poetry of the drill rig after a cold hard day of work on the tundra. The wind blowing the snow across the icy tundra. The viewer can imagine feel the cold hard sting of the wind in this harsh environment. Can you almost feel how it is to work in such an environment?  A tough environment that is equaled in it's beauty no words can describe. So here is a painting worth a thousand word.
